About Our Axle Repair Services for Trucks & Fleets
What To Do If An Axle Snaps
You’ll likely notice it immediately if the heavy-duty axle of your truck snaps. You may notice difficulty accelerating, as the truck's power will be directed to the disconnected wheel. Even trucks with locking differentials may encounter issues as they only transfer half of the power to the remaining wheel. You may find grease leaks or hear unusual sounds when accelerating, as the axle becomes jammed in its housing.
Common Axle Issues
Bent Axle
Operating a truck with even a slightly bent axle can be dangerous for you and other drivers on the road. You may experience vibrations and difficulty turning if the bend is less than a quarter of an inch. Still, it’s not completely risky as long as you exercise caution. However, not fixing a bent axle can severely damage the bearings and hubs, and this problem will only worsen over time.
Broken Axle
Any heavy-duty truck owner or fleet operator will tell you that when you are consistently carrying heavy loads, your axles are more prone to breaking. Although managing loads within your truck's towing capacity isn’t a problem, exceeding a specific limit increases the risk of the axle snapping.
